After a whole day of encircling some of Coron’s snorkeling sites and islands, we set camp at one of the islands about two hours away from the port. The guidebooks call it Tapachelen Island but the locals know it as Papachelen. I guess the locals are more credible.

Sorry for the heavily cliched sunset photos.

This would be the last post featuring my digital images from Coron. Up next, film!

It’s a shame I didn’t have the opportunity and time to shoot in Kalinga because of the torrential downpour and also because of work. It’s a good thing I’m coming back. The only chance to shoot presented itself on the way home because we got stuck in traffic because of the multiple landslides in Nueva Vizcaya.

I was basically shooting with my telephoto from the car window. Pretty bad photography if you ask me.

But it’s better than nothing right?

Oh well. There’s always a next time.

Autumn Sunday

4/2/08

Last Sunday was a typical summer day in Manila. The heat was almost suffocating and the mounting humidity was relentless. I was moping in my room, thinking I should be somewhere out of the metro, shooting. TV was useless and somehow I was evading the evil clutches of the internet. It was like high school summer vacation all over again, only when I was in high school TV was sweet and surfing was breakneck speed at 56kbps.

Out of nowhere, large clumps of dark, grey clouds arrived and ushered in a sweet summer shower. Every so often, in between the rain clouds, the sun would stream through. I decided to smoke a cigarette at our backyard and there, I discovered that almost all our trees decided to let go of their leaves which were peculiarly in shades of yellow, orange and brown. It was strange since our neighbor’s trees were lush with greens. Strange, our trees.
