After a whole day of encircling some of Coron’s snorkeling sites and islands, we set camp at one of the islands about two hours away from the port. The guidebooks call it Tapachelen Island but the locals know it as Papachelen. I guess the locals are more credible.

Sorry for the heavily cliched sunset photos.

This would be the last post featuring my digital images from Coron. Up next, film!

It’s a shame I didn’t have the opportunity and time to shoot in Kalinga because of the torrential downpour and also because of work. It’s a good thing I’m coming back. The only chance to shoot presented itself on the way home because we got stuck in traffic because of the multiple landslides in Nueva Vizcaya.

I was basically shooting with my telephoto from the car window. Pretty bad photography if you ask me.

But it’s better than nothing right?

I brought my film SLR with me today and I was just out of it. I didn’t shoot a single frame.

Down time.

So here are some more shots taken while strolling around Baguio City’s most dense artery, Session Road.

And so I’m back in the fiery pits of Manila though today wasn’t that hot thanks to the clouds.

Here are my feeble attempts at street photography, shot Friday afternoon at Session Road with my Canon Rebel 2000, mated with a 70-200 2.8 and loaded with Kodak BW400CN. I’m slowly starting to develop new composition techniques, trying to “see” in black and white.

No matter how gaudy Session Road gets, I am just simply in love with it. It’s always so busy with locals and tourists moving up and down, up and down.

Session Road or Bust!

Finally, something related to the Holy Week. We briefly made a pit stop at Manaoag just to be able to do something that was connected to the Lenten traditions. Though I’m not a church person, (In fact I don’t think I’ve practiced my “religion” since the 6th grade.) I prepped my telephoto to snipe some shots.

Talk about mixed signals.

It was a particularly humid day and the many lit candles pushed the candle gallery’s temperatures to uncomfortable levels.

Kuya Kolet tells us that Manaoag is touted as the Devotion Capital of the Philippines. A mother offers yet another candle. I wonder what she’s the lighting candle for.

Manaoag really gets a lot of visitors. Let’s just say some have developed sly entrepreneurial skills.

I saw a lady saying the rosary while kneeling. As she did her prayers she would move forward on her knees. This was one of the most sincere scenes I witnessed in Manaoag.

Apparently, they do run out of, er, blessings. At least they apologized.

This was our last stop with Kuya Kolet. He later on dropped us off at Pozorrubio, Pangasinan where we spontaneously hopped on a Baguio-bound bus.

Thank you for putting up with us! Haha!

This ends the Holy Week Hop series.

I promised myself to finish this Holy Week Hop series by Sunday so I have to post.

Here are some more photos I gathered from Dasol, Pangasinan that beautiful Black Saturday morning.

While waiting for my turn to take a bath, I decided to give my 70-200 2.8L some exercise. Here is, plain and simple, a photo of a rooster.

A social climber.

A defensive dog.

Si Puti. How cliche.

Rex seeking shade.

And finally, a parting shot from Tambobong. (Not from the 70-200 2.L)

Moving on, moving on.

The last time I was in Anawangin, I was in a group comprised of about 30 photo enthusiasts. It was a rabid, mad dash for photos. Now, I was the only one with a DSLR in our foursome. Though there were so many DSLR-wielding weekenders who had the same idea.

This was shot on the way to Anawangin.

The famous river at the back gives a Northern American feel to a very tropical place.

There’s this iconic boat in Anawangin that just begs to be photographed.

And some more.

Photos were taken with a Canon 40D, a 17-40 F4L, a 70-200 F2.8L and a Sigma 10-20 F4-5.6

this weekend's haul: anawangin

Aha! I’ll be damned if I don’t go out this weekend. It’s Anawangin again, but this time, it’ll be a road trip and I have to bring gear. Presenting, my stuff!

Why pack light when I can put up a fight!

Now let’s all pray for good weather!
Have a great weekend everyone!
