Autumn Sunday

4/2/08

Last Sunday was a typical summer day in Manila. The heat was almost suffocating and the mounting humidity was relentless. I was moping in my room, thinking I should be somewhere out of the metro, shooting. TV was useless and somehow I was evading the evil clutches of the internet. It was like high school summer vacation all over again, only when I was in high school TV was sweet and surfing was breakneck speed at 56kbps.

Out of nowhere, large clumps of dark, grey clouds arrived and ushered in a sweet summer shower. Every so often, in between the rain clouds, the sun would stream through. I decided to smoke a cigarette at our backyard and there, I discovered that almost all our trees decided to let go of their leaves which were peculiarly in shades of yellow, orange and brown. It was strange since our neighbor’s trees were lush with greens. Strange, our trees.

  1. nice photos as always. these leaves just made me think of going to some forest and do some hiking and photography, a break from really hot, hot and humid Manila!

  2. I like the choice of subject and your study in them.

On Caramoan, have you confirmed if it’s already open? I heard parts of it are closed since “Survivor: Asia” Celebrity edition is currently shooting there.

  3. @Estan: Thanks! We should all get out of Manila! Init!

@Ferdz: Boredom is key. Haha! About Caramoan, the Gota vicinity is still closed because of the Survivor:Asia thing. I think the filming will go on for another 3-4 months. We’re going further, into Lahuy Island and its neighboring areas which have beaches that are equally as good, if not better, than Gota!
